America is upside down! Welcome to our “For What It’s Worth” blog! Today marks the initial publication of our new website and this is our first blog article! The purpose of today’s initial blog article is to introduce you to our website; its purpose and what we mean by “America is upside down” and “OldGloryUnderSiege”!
Why do we say “America is upside down”? Because our government was designed by the Founders to serve the people! Our elected officials are supposed to work for us! Admittedly, I’m not the “sharpest tool in the shed”, but it doesn’t take a genius to see what’s going on in our Nations’ Capitol. It’s very obvious that the majority of our elected officials are under the impression that we work for them! We believe it’s time to let them know that is not the case!
Why do we display our Flag upside down and call our website “OldGloryUnderSiege”? Some might think that displaying the Flag upside down is a sign of disrespect. Not true! Displaying the Flag upside down is proper Flag Etiquette! It is a signal or sign of distress, such as, an attack; under siege, as we call it! We believe our country is under siege! Not from another country, but from our own elected officials! So, in order to get peoples’ attention, we display our Flag upside down!
We believe our country is in serious trouble and our purpose for the website is to bring that to the attention of as many people as possible! The “great silent majority” that Ronald Reagan always talked about! We need the participation of every “red blooded American” we can muster! We know they are there; we just need to make them understand the seriousness of the situation our country faces! We believe and we are hopeful they will respond; because we also believe that we are in a fight that we can’t afford to lose!!
Consider the words of Thomas Jefferson and Samuel Adams below:
"If ever time should come, when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in Government, our country will stand in need of its experienced patriots to prevent its ruin." - Samuel Adams
Who are the vain and aspiring men that Adams was referring to? Our current elected officials in this country! Who are the patriots he was talking about? That’s us folks! You and me and every person who values their liberty; because that’s exactly what’s at stake!
Thomas Jefferson accurately described our current situation well over 200 years before it happened when he said the words below:
"An elective despotism was not the government we fought for, but one which should not only be founded on true free principles, but in which the powers of government should be so divided and balanced among general bodies of magistracy, as that no one could transcend their legal limits without being effectually checked and restrained by the others."

Our current situation in the country is exactly what Jefferson said! We have a POTUS who is totally out of control, a Congress who is either incapable or unwilling to rein him in and a SCOTUS that shows no ability to stop him, as well!
We believe there is still time to turn our country around and restore Constitutional Government, but time is growing short. We believe the 2014 midterm election can be the turning point! We need to find and support candidates who support our Constitution! We need the American voters to lean about those candidates and make intelligent choices! We then need them to show up at the polls in November and vote!
In short what we really need is for America to wake up and take our country back!
